Yesterday demonstration got first page:
POLICE thwarted a proposed meeting of about 500 Boeung Kak lake residents yesterday and later used shields and electric batons to break up a protest by around 200 of the group who moved on to protest outside of Prime Minister Hun Sen’s house.
Boeung Kak resident Soung Sophoan said the villagers were forced into an impromptu demonstration after Srak Chak commune authorities prevented a scheduled meeting at the nearby National Institute of Education. Police and villagers were involved in minor clashes as the protest moved towards the premier’s house near the Independence Monument.
“We planned to have a peaceful consultation at the National Institute of Education, but Srah Chak commune chief Chay Thirith banned it and told us to do it at the Red Cross Hospital,” he said. “But the hospital was closed, so we did the protest here.”
In Phnom Penh there are a lot of tailors, from highclass one to simple street ones that make only shirts. So I found it would be an interesting experience to work with one of them.
For first work i thought to have a shirt done changing a few things from the reference model:
1 due to weather i choosed simple white cotton
2 again due to heat the sleeve shape has been enlarged because in this weather cloth should detach from the skin as mush as possible
3 collar has been “taken out” and done in asian way, some call it “korean” some “waiter”…
4 cause it should be wear outside pants the front opening with buttons ends half way
5 to add some variation i just asked to use different and interesting buttons thay had in the shop.
There seem to be only 3 types of people walking around the streets of Phnom Penh:
-monks
-tourists
- street vendor with a stick on their shoulder
The rest on motors, some bicycles and cars.
