Uponor office

The Beijing office of Uponor should function as a standard office but also as a presentation space to introduce new products and hold seminars. It was clear since the beginning that the relation between these two areas was the main driver of the design.

Layout
Our solution first separates longitudinally the 150 mq in two parts: the working space can benefit from the natural lighting coming from the windows, the illumination in the presentation space can be fully controlled. The longitudinal separation creates two spaces with a more interesting ratio between width and length.

The functional partition
For budget and functional reasons the 1.6m deep central partition contains a display system, storage,a kitchen niche, wardrobe. It also provide sound insulation between the two areas.

Alternation
In order to show to clients and visitors the dual function of the new office and not to lose the perception of the whole space, the storage compartments of the central partition are shifted to allow view through to the other side.

Furniture
The idea behind the workstation units is to maintain a visually clean office after the work day. Each workstation has a storage unit under the desk. The top of the workstaion has an operable top that stores objects used during the work day.

Finishes
The client’s request for a calm space, the fact that Uponor is a Finnish company, the budget, and the desire for a easy-to-build office contribute a reduced material palette: white and wood laminated panels , glass , gray carpet, stainless steel.
